who is equi nutri care?
At Equi Nutri Care, the individual horse comes first. No brand interests, no sales pitches and no standardised advice, but independent, tailored guidance that fits the horse, its ration and the circumstances in which it lives and works.
"Feeding Horses as Nature Intended" means, to us, feeding each horse according to its natural physiology and nutritional needs, while taking into account the reality in which that horse lives. Housing, health, workload, available feed and the owner’s possibilities all form part of that picture.
Targeted feeding is how we put that into practice. We determine what the horse actually needs based on the whole picture, not on trends, marketing claims or the sale of a particular product.
Not more because it sounds good, and not less because it has to fit within a particular feeding philosophy. Instead, we make evidence-based choices based on what this individual horse actually needs.
My Story – A Passion for Horses and Nutrition
My love for horses goes back to my childhood. Over the years, I saw how often feeding was shaped not around the horse itself, but by habit, convenience or commercial interests. I knew there had to be a better way.
I decided to specialise in equine nutrition, with a critical perspective and a scientific foundation. Equi Nutri Care grew from that conviction: to help horse owners make informed, evidence-based choices, with respect for both the horse’s physiology and the circumstances in which it lives.
Today, I work with private horse owners, breeders, sport yards and other professionals on a wide range of nutritional questions. The starting point always remains the same: look at the individual horse, determine what it actually needs, and tailor the ration as practically and purposefully as possible.
What Equi Nutri Care Stands For
-
Independent advice
No ties to feed brands, manufacturers or product sales. The needs of the individual horse determine the advice. -
Scientific Foundation
Advice is based on scientific knowledge, relevant research evidence, established best practices, and specialised expertise in equine nutrition, physiology, health and feeding management. -
Practical and Applicable
A nutrition plan should not only work on paper, but also be practical to implement in the daily lives of both horse and owner. -
Respect for the horse
No standard formulas. We take into account the individual horse, its natural physiology, and the circumstances in which it lives and works. -
Collaboration with Veterinarians
For clinical nutrition cases, we work alongside veterinary diagnostics and treatment, not as a replacement for them.
What can you expect?
A consultation starts with the horse itself. We weigh your horse and assess factors including body condition and muscle development. The most accurate body weight possible forms the basis for the calculations that follow.
Next, the current ration is analysed in detail, down to the level of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Wherever possible, we work with the available data for the actual feeds and forage being provided, rather than relying solely on general averages.
We compare this nutritional intake with your horse’s requirements. We look not only at individual nutrients, but also at factors that may influence their absorption, availability and requirements. Important nutrient ratios and interactions, including antagonisms, are also taken into account.
Based on this, we formulate the most balanced ration possible, taking into account the horse’s physiology, its individual requirements, and the circumstances in which it lives and works.
If complementary feeds or supplements are needed, we select them based on their composition, relevant active ingredients and the amounts actually supplied. Marketing terms or claims on the packaging are not the deciding factor.
You will therefore receive not just a list of what you can feed, but a well-founded nutrition plan that clearly shows what your horse is receiving, what it needs, where any differences lie, and why certain adjustments are recommended.
